Exceptional Optical Performance
The optical design features a sophisticated arrangement of specialised elements, including one XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements. This is further enhanced by one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to effectively suppress various aberrations, minimising peripheral blurring and colour fringing.
In particular, it effectively corrects sagittal coma flare, which is a common issue in nightscapes and astrophotography where point light sources appear distorted at the edges of the frame. By maintaining high sharpness from the center to the extreme corners, the 12-20mm F2.8 renders every single point of light with crystalline clarity.

Advanced Coating Technologies
AX (Anti-reflection eXpand) Coating: The 12-20mm F2.8 features AX Coating that achieves a uniform film thickness via vapor deposition across the entire surface of highly curved convex elements. This technology effectively suppresses harmful light, ensuring exceptionally clear and crisp image.
BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating: The 2nd-generation BBAR-G2 Coating significantly minimizes ghosting and flare, even in challenging backlit conditions. This results in high-contrast, vivid rendering with remarkable pop.
