Lumix G 12.5mm/F12 Micro 4/3rds Interchangeable lens

The world’s first interchangeable 3D Lens for Lumix G Micro System cameras

The Lumix G 12.5mm /F12 is the world’s first digital interchangeable lens to make 3D shooting possible with an interchangeable lens system camera (for a digital interchangeable lens, as of September 21, 2010). This lens allows you to shoot landscapes, people and a variety of subjects in high-quality 3D, to be enjoyed later with your 3D VIErA TVs at home.

This lens features two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images from the left and right lenses, to be processed with a 3D image processing system.

Each lens system consists of four elements in three groups. Thanks to Panasonic’s advanced technologies in optical technology, image processing system  and lens barrel design, the 3D lens still retains an extremely compact size and light-weight body of 45g.

[About 3D Recording]

With the 3D interchangeable lens attached, do not record a subject at less than the minimum focus distance.

• The 3D effects may be more pronounced, and therefore cause tiredness or discomfort.

• The minimum focus distance is 0.6 m (1.97 feet).

When recording with the 3D interchangeable lens attached, be careful not to shake the digital camera.

• Tiredness or discomfort may result if the shake is pronounced, due to riding in a vehicle or walking etc.

• We recommend using a tripod.

Lens Construction

Lenses manufactured with uncompromising devotion to high image quality
The production process for Lumix G and LEICA DG lenses is conducted in ‘clean rooms’ to rigorous environmental standards. Now acclaimed worldwide, our UA3P Ultra-Accurate 3D Profilometer, with its measurement accuracy of 1/10,000mm, gives objective numerical evaluations and detects flaring, colour coatings and the ‘feel’ of the focus ring.

An original lens-drive motor for high-precision high-speed contrast AF
Lumix G and Leica DG lenses incorporate a unique ‘stepping motor’ with a screw unit in the motor shaft that moves the focus lens directly, without relay gears or cams. Information transfers from lens to camera faster, making auto focus swift and accurate with reduced drive noise for better movie recording.

Multi-coating process
In addition to a standard broadband anti-reflection coating, Lumix G/Leica DG lenses reduce the reflection of light entering at an angle. Widely used on fisheye and ultra-wide-angle lenses, this coating greatly improves results when shooting against a light source, resulting in high quality images with superb clarity.
