LEICA D VARIO- ELMARIT zoom lens for digital SLR Cameras

Designed specifically for digital SLR cameras, the new Panasonic Leica D large-diameter telephoto zoom lens offers an exceptionally long zoom range of 14-150mm (35mm equivalent 28-300mm) and complies with the Four Thirds System for compatibility with a wide range of other camera models.

This new lens provides a considerably longer telephoto range than the previously released LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 14-50mm/F2.8-3.5 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S (Optical Image Stabiliser). lens, yet is just as compact and light weight.  This impressive downsizing is achieved by incorporating four aspherical lenses in the unit, which also improves optical performance by minimising distortion, even at the 28mm wide end.

It also incorporates Panasonic’s Mega O.I;S (Optical Image Stabiliser) to make it easier to shoot super-telephoto shots without the blurring caused by hands-shake.  The aperture ring makes for easy, intuitive shooting.

This combination of an extended 28-300mm shooting range, Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser) and an aperture ring for intuitive control makes the LEICA D VARIO-ELMAR 14-150mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S perfect for capturing clear, beautiful, expressive images of a wide variety of subjects in many different conditions.

Lens Construction

Aspherical lenses
These lenses prevent spherical and distortion aberrations, so higher magnification can be achieved with fewer lenses. Resulting in smaller size and weight, these lenses feature the high dimensional accuracy of Panasonic’s cutting-edge production technologies, including concave lenses that measure just 0.3mm at their thinnest part.

Extra-low dispersion lenses
Extra-low dispersion (ED) lens corrects longitudinal chromatic aberration in the zoom setting, and chromatic difference of magnification at the wide angle setting. The result is greatly reduced contrast degradation and colour bleeding, with both telephoto and wide-angle zoom lenses delivering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colours from corner to corner.

Multi-coating process
In addition to a standard broadband anti-reflection coating, Lumix G/Leica DG lenses reduce the reflection of light entering at an angle. Widely used on fisheye and ultra-wide-angle lenses, this coating greatly improves results when shooting against a light source, resulting in high quality images with superb clarity
